Herbie Russ, an incredible musician, delivered a stunning audition on Americaβs Got Talent that left the judges in awe. In the Judge Cuts round, Herbie chose to perform the iconic Joe Cocker track βWith A Little Help From My Friends,β a song that remarkably suits his powerful voice. His performance, which also featured a saxophone solo, claimed the stage and captivated the audience.
Herbieβs journey has been one of immense struggle and resilience. His promising future as a saxophonist was derailed in sixth grade when he injured his hand, making it nearly impossible to play. Years of rehabilitation followed before he regained his ability to command the saxophone again.
His life took a darker turn with drug abuse, leading to periods of homelessness. After being kicked out of his home due to his addiction, Herbie drifted as a struggling musician, playing scattered gigs to survive and support his habits.
Eventually, Herbie felt a calling for something greater. He recalls a turning point in his life when he turned to God, saying, βYouβve given me this talent, I need some direction.β From that day, he became a devoted artist, frequently assisting at homeless shelters and using his music to inspire others.
Herbieβs voice, reminiscent of Joe Cocker, brought his performance of βWith A Little Help From My Friendsβ to life. Simon Cowell offered some keen advice, noting the risk in his choice. However, Herbieβs uncanny vocal similarity to Cocker proved to be a fortunate coincidence, one that he skillfully capitalized on.Β Watch the full video belowΒ and please leave us a Facebook comment to let us know what you thought!
